Our pupil in top 8 in the World

Cambridge University Examinations, UK, have confirmed, April 2010, that Milica Rodic, 11, a pupil studying English Language at Owen Owen, Belgrade, Serbia, is one of just 8 pupils in the whole world to achieve an astonishing score of 100% in a University of Cambridge ESOL English Examination, held in Belgrade.

Milica has been studying English language with Owen Owen since she was a first grader at primary school and in 2009 she and the pupils in her group prepared for the Cambridge University KET – Key English Test – held by the British Council in December, 2009, in Belgrade.

“I expected to do well because I studied hard, but not this well”, said a proud Milica, 1 of just 8 out of 7000, globally, with a score of 100 points out of 100 in the KET December exam session.

Zeljko Jovanovic, Manager for Business Development, at the British Council, Serbia, part of whose job is to promote Cambridge English language exams in Serbia, was delighted at the news. “Milica's success is really a great confirmation of how good preparation, commitment and work bring outstanding results.”,he said. “We would like to congratulate her.”

Andrew Chamberlain, Regional Manager for Cambridge Examinations for Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe forwarded his congratulations on Milica's performance saying that her achievement was,” very impressive indeed”.

University of Cambridge ESOL English Examinations are administered by the British Council every year in 154 different countries. Several hundred thousand candidates prepare for and take these general and professional English exams every year to gain internationally recognized proof of their English language knowledge.

Owen Owen, Belgrade, is a Silver Member of the British Council's Addvantage Partner Scheme and is one of just 2 organizations in Serbia to prepare the greatest number of candidates in the country for the Cambridge exams, as well as being the recipient of Cambridge University and the British Council's Big Cambridge Awards for 2007, 2008 and 2009.

James Owen, Director of Owen Owen, Serbia underlined both the importance of the exams as well as highlighting Milica's monumental achievement. “ These exams are a crucial part of students' development of the English language and for Milica to have shown an absolute ability at her level is quite outstanding,” he said. “ I congratulate Milica, together with her family who supported her through the preparation course and exam, and know that this 11 year-old's achievement will inspire others, everywhere, to strive for excellence in their English language learning”.

Milica has already begun preparing for Cambridge's next level's exam, PET, and says about learning English,”I think studying English is fun, I enjoy it and it is very important for my future”.
